Let's Get Started - What Will I Need?

If you're new to cloth you are probably wondering what supplies you will want or need. Well, it varies from person to person, but here is what I would get if I were starting over with a newborn. We have assembled a variety of diaper packages that include everything you will need. **Note: When I refer to the Bummis covers below, I am referring to your choice of the Super Whisper Wrap or the Super Snap or a combo of the two covers.**

GOING THE PREFOLD ROUTE -

USING FITTED DIAPERS FULL-TIME OR PART-TIME...

The Kissaluvs, Bamboozles Fitted Diapers, or Baby Greens "Growing Greens" (5-35 lbs) - fitted diapers are great for full-time use OR for CONVENIENCE and CUTENESS!!

The Kissaluvs Size O's have an umbilical notch and are fabulous for holding in all that newborn breastfed poo & keeping your covers unsoiled.

If using fitteds full-time, you'll want about 24 of each size of the Kissaluvs or Bamboozles OR 24 total of the Baby Greens(since they're a "one-size" diaper.) You WILL need a diaper cover for all of the fitted diapers & all of the diaper covers that we sell are compatible. So... you have plenty of options when it comes to combining your fitted diapers & diaper covers.

I love to have a few fitted diapers to toss in the diaper bag for a day out on the town! Also, the fitteds are great for letting your crawler or toddler "hang out" around the house without a diaper cover. Not to mention, they're a great conversation piece at the pediatrician's office! "Oh, what a cute diaper!! Cloth diapers have come a long way."

They're super thick and absorbent for car trips, naps, etc.

    Fuzzi Bunz Full-Timers

Some people choose to use their Fuzzi Bunz full-time! The beauty in this is that you have to change your baby less often, because the inner fleece keeps them dry! We certainly use more Fuzzi Bunz during the daytime now that our baby is older and "poo"ing less frequently(once a day).

If you're going with the Fuzzi Bunz full-time, I would recommend about 16 FB's and 24 inserts. This is basically a 2 day supply. You can always stuff the FB's with DSQ prefolds, too(although prefolds will be a bulkier choice, but they're definitely economical). The fabulous thing about Fuzzi Bunz is that they have a TERRIFIC resale value! So, use them when you need them, and then you can sell them to afford the next sizes.

For those you want to use WOOL covers FULL-time. You should be just fine with 4-5 wool covers in each size. Because, wool is so naturally anti-microbial & does not retain odor very easily, it only needs to be washed(unless soiled) in Eucalan Woolwash every 1-2 weeks. Wool is fabulous for breathability.

    My Favorite Diapering Combo...

Is to use a little of everything. I like to use everything listed above in many different combinations. That's the Gemini in me, I guess. Never boring, and your diapering system can be fine-tuned to a particular day!

Enjoy finding the system that is right for you!
